Currently, the entire country is experiencing extreme heat. This excessive heat is not only uncomfortable but can also be seriously harmful to your health. Many people are suffering from issues like heatstroke, dehydration, headaches, and fatigue. To stay safe, here are some important tips:
A lack of water in the body can lead to dehydration, which is very dangerous during hot weather. So, drink at least 8–10 glasses of water daily. Coconut water, lemon water, or ORS (oral rehydration solution) are also beneficial.
When stepping outside in the sun, use an umbrella, wear sunglasses, apply sunscreen, and wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothes. Don’t forget to cover your head with a scarf or cap.
Stay indoors as much as possible, especially between 12 PM and 4 PM. Keep the fan or AC on, or use curtains to keep the room cool.
Eat fresh fruits (like watermelon, cucumber, mango), salads, and light meals. Avoid oily, spicy, and heavy foods.
Bathing with cold water multiple times a day helps keep the body cool and refreshed.
The body becomes exhausted quickly in extreme heat. So, reduce unnecessary tasks or physical labor. Take rest and ensure enough sleep.
Excessive sweating, dizziness, nausea, rapid heartbeat, or unconsciousness — these are signs of heatstroke. If you notice any of these, move to a cool place immediately and consult a doctor.
Protecting yourself from excessive heat is now more important than ever. Stay aware, build healthy habits, and keep yourself and your family safe.
